For the first PCs I used, I didn’t have much word to say in the components. I used to shoot for the stars, and my parents landed a few floors from the ground, selecting the equipment that corresponded to the budget. Later, when I started winning and I had full control over my versions for the first time, I started with PCS budget. The use of a Pentium 3 Machine predefined to a Ryzen 7 5700x custom And RTX 3080 Gaming Rig, I have a long list of processors and GPU that I would have liked to buy at launch.
Sometimes I compromised due to limited budgets, while in other cases, I delayed the purchase, hoping that prices drop or something better to go out. With the advantage of the hindsight, however, I can now proclaim that not to grasp these six components when I should have, will remain my greatest regrets of PC construction.

GTX 1060 6 GB
Before building a GTX 1050 Ti PC
The first PC version which was really mine was a budgetary construction that I gathered in mid -2017 – the very first machine that I built with my own money. The coupling of the GTX 1050 Ti with the Ryzen 5 1600 was one of the Pc hardware deceives that I regret the most. The GTX 1050 TI had no company in this construction, despite my limited funds and the affordable price of the GPU. For $ 200 more, I could have bought one of the best GPUs on budget of all time; The GTX 1060 6 GB.
Launched around a year before deciding to build a PC, the GTX 1060 was a GPU on which I had had them for a long time. It provided an unrivaled value at the time, playing AAA 1080p a breeze in almost all titles. Sometimes I would have liked to build my PC a year earlier, so I would not have had any other choice than to follow the GTX 1060. It would have lasted me much longer than the two years that I spent with the GTX 1050 Ti, and turned out to be one of the two years Best purchases of equipment from my PC construction trip.

RTX 2060 Super
Instead of the GTX 1660 Ti
What happened, happened and I made good memories with my GTX 1050 Ti. However, two years later in 2019, it was clear that I needed an upgrade. I looked at the new RTX 2060 Super, which was a little more than what I wanted to pay for a new GPU, and the GTX 1660 Ti, which seemed more attractive in comparison, if only for the lower price. I ended up going for the latter, but not without a regret.
The Nvidia Turing range was surrounded by a growing media threw of Ray traced And the new generation game, and I was swept away at the time. I did not see the limited game library supporting the new technology; Instead, I wanted this new brilliant RTX graphics card. The GTX 1660 TI was a value card of a large value for money, and one of the last good affordable GPUs of Nvidia. However, I have always missed these RT nuclei. And regrets not stretching my budget about $ 100 to enter this RTX 2060 Super.

RTX 3060 Ti
I could have obtained it for the PDSFP
2019 came and came, and Nvidia prepared the launch of its GPUs of the RTX 30 series – which could have been one of the Best launches in the history of the GPU. However, it turned out that the Ampère range landed in the worst time. The crisis of the shortage of silicon and the supply chain coincided with the boom of cryptography and the unprecedented demand to create a perfect storm which has led to rare and high prices.
I was finally hoping to go to an RTX graphics card and I was impressed by the claims of the RTX 3060 Ti beating the RTX 2080 Super. For a few weeks in December 2019 and January 2020, the RTX 3060 TI was available at a reasonable price (taking into account the market conditions) at my local retailer, and I had almost thrown the sponge. I ended up waiting, however, that prices fall to the PDSF, which has never happened.
The RTX 3060 Ti would have been a massive upgrade on my GTX 1660 Ti, and I could have played all the Ray traced titles that I wanted to live for a long time. Destiny, however, had other plans.

Ryzen 7 5800x3d
The best of AM4
From 2019 to mid-2022, I did not upgrade to my PC. The PC equipment market was still in shock from the GPU price crisis, so my dream RTX upgrade had to wait. Then unexpectedly, I won a virtual PC construction competition Organized by WD and NVIDIA, and the first prize was the RTX 3080 RTX game PC that I had submitted to the competition. I was ecstatic, but I also had a budget defined to choose the rest of the components, which meant that I could not choose the CPU that I really wanted: the Ryzen 7 5800x3d.
The 5800X3D was a turning point for PC players. AMD had cracked the code to push FPS higher than any other processor on the market, and finally acquired game leadership on Intel. An upgrade of the Ryzen 5,1600 at the Ryzen 7 5800x3d (before winning the PC) would have been phenomenal, and the best part was that my B350 motherboard in fact supported the first generation Ryzen X3D processor.
If I hadn’t won the PC in this competition, I would have upgraded the Ryzen 7,5800x3d earlier this year. A GPU upgrade was not on the cards anyway, because the market was still a few months older before it stabilizes.

Ryzen 7 7800x3d
It was at hand for a long time
One year after the Ryzen 7 5800x3d, AMD launched the iconic Ryzen 7 7800x3dthe next Best game processor in the world. My new AM4 game PC only had about half a year at the time, but I was already thinking of Upgrade to AM5. With the Ryzen 7 7800x3d, AMD solidified its advance in the game on Intel Core i9-14900KAnd it was clear that the 7800x3d was THE CPU for game lovers.
The move to AM5 was quite expensive in 2023, but a year later, the AM5 motherboards and the RAM DDR5 had become affordable. And the Ryzen 7,7800x3d was widely available for around $ 349 for a long time. I left the best chance of scoring a fantastic game GPU slip through my fingers. Months later, just before the launch of Ryzen 7 9800x3dThe 7800X3D stock has disappeared, and it only returned with an increase in substantial prices.
The 9800x3d was faster than the 7800x3d, but it was also much more expensive. In addition, my priorities had evolved towards the upgrading of my GPU, since the RTX 40 series finally had some cards in value.

AMD Ryzen 7 7800x3d
$ 399 $ 449 Save $ 50
One of the fastest game processors in the world, the Ryzen 7,7800x3d AMD is back in stock at a reasonable price.

RTX 4080 Super
Really impressive for $ 999
NVIDIA RTX 4080 was a terrible product for $ 1,200. The prices of the RTX 40 series were far from being digestible, and the RTX 4080 was so bad that people refused to buy it, and some retailers have even ceased to renew the actions for months. So when Nvidia announced the RTX 4080 Super At $ 999, I was finally ready to hope again. Spending a big on a GPU seemed crazy, but the jump from the RTX 3080 at the RTX 4080 Super was not small.
In addition, due to the victory of my last PC, I had not spent anything on PC equipment for years. Thus, the investment seemed almost “not crazy”. After looking for the best offer for months, I was about to lower money, but a large unexpected expenditure came out of nowhere, and I decided to delay my upgrade of the GPU. Shortly after, however, the stock of most cards in the RTX 40 series disappeared, and all that was available, was too marked.
The opportunity had yet escaped me, and I got away at sight Upgrade to the RTX 5080But you can guess how it turned out. Now, after all the chaos created by new prices and no decent high -end GPU in sight, I am stuck while waiting for the next great opportunity to knock on my doors.

Sometimes you just have to press the relaxation
What this series of events taught me is that if you really want a particular PC upgrade, and you can justify the investment for yourself, it is worth getting it despite the fact that the timing is not “fair”. Procrastination and hunting for the best offer can often make you miss the opportunity forever, given the market for unpredictable PC equipment in which we live. Of course, too paying for PC components is not recommended, but sometimes when something big is reasonably evaluated, it is better to catch it if you really want.
