Text generation trends
A bidirectional race
The study shows that among POE subscribers, anthropo models quickly become as popular as Optaai, especially after the release of Claude 3.5 Sonnet. The use of text models of the two suppliers is now almost uniformly divided.
Quick adoption of new versions
Poe users often go to the latest models, even if they are faithful to a specific brand. For example, people quickly go from GPT-4 to OPENAI to GPT-4O or from Claude 3 to Claude 3.5.
Emerging players
The DEEPSEEK R1 and V3 captured about 7% of messages on POE. The Google Gemini family experienced a slight drop in use among POE subscribers but remains a key player.
Image generation trends
Market share of the first movers
Dall-E-3 and StreeDiffusion were formerly leaders of the generation of images, but their actions dropped by around 80%. This drop occurred as the number of models of image generation has increased from three to around 25.
First plan models
The BlackForestlabs flow family is now the main image model, holding a share of almost 40%, while the imagen3 family from Google has around 30%.
Smaller models
Soft image suppliers like Playground and Ideogram update their services frequently, which helps them maintain a base of loyal users. However, they represent only 10% of the use of the generation of POE images.
Video generation trends
An emerging industry
The generation of videos was almost nonexistent on Poe until the end of 2024, but it quickly gained popularity. Now, at least eight suppliers offer this capacity.
Track: the most used model
The unique video model from Runway manages 30 to 50% of video generation requests. Although its use is lower than it was, many people always choose this brand.
New player: VEO-2
Since the launch on POE, Google’s VEO-2 has gained around 40% of the market, showing the speed with which customer preferences can change. Other new models, such as Kling-Pro-Pro V1.5, Hailuo-Ai, Hunyuanvideo and Wan-2.1, captured around 15% of the market.
Taken to remember and looking towards the future
The data shows a clear model of more recent models replacing the oldest in the preference of users. If you want the best performance, use the latest version rather than stick to familiar but obsolete models.
It remains to be seen that these models of use will remain stable or will continue to change. At some point, the cost will be an obstacle to adoption, because new models tend to become more expensive for each version.
