Apple has been criticized in recent times for the dull performance of its Characteristics of AIespecially when it comes to summarizing notifications.
In response, the company recently explain How it works to do her Have better While protecting the confidentiality of users.
Apple uses a technique called “differential confidentiality” to improve its AI without directly accessing people’s personal data.
Here is how it works in simple terms: Apple creates false computer data that resembles and behave like real user data but do not contain any real information from real people.
For example, to improve E-mails linked to AI, Apple generates a large number of synthetic emails covering different subjects and styles.
He then transforms each of these false messages in digital summary which captures key features such as the language used, the subject discussed and the length of the message.
These summaries are then sent to a limited number of user devices which agreed to share the analysis with Apple.
The devices quietly compare synthetic summaries with real emails stored on the device to see which false messages are most similar to the real ones.
The devices then report the general results, as what types of summaries are the most precise, without returning personal content.
Apple then uses these comments to make its models AI smarter and more useful.
The company already applies this method to improve features such as Genmoji, and it plans to extend it to other creative tools such as image Playground, Wand Image, the creation of memories and writing assistance features.
Apple also explores means to use this method to improve how its AI summarizes e-mails.
Overall, Apple makes its Characteristics of AI More useful and precise while keeping data from private users based on synthetic examples instead of the real thing and by testing them with users if they have chosen to share the analysis with Apple.
