Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ: MSFT) is a technology company based in Washington. The trade war between the United States and China is escalating. Following US restrictions on the export of AI chips to Chinese companies, Microsoft recently alerted US authorities to the Salt Typhoon hack, according to a report in The New York Times newspaper. The report claims that hackers with close ties to the Chinese government hid for more than a year in the networks of America’s largest telecommunications companies and obtained a nearly complete list of phone numbers that the Justice Department monitors in its legal interception system. He further adds that officials now believe the hack has spread beyond phone companies to Internet service providers, potentially allowing Chinese people to read some emails.
