Autonomous GPU expeditions for office PCs increased slightly in the last quarter of 2024 compared to the previous quarter, but decreased by more than a million units compared to the same quarter in 2023, according to Jon Peddie Research. However, the Complementary Graphic Tables (AIB) market for office computers rebounded considerably in 2024 compared to the previous year. While AMD managed to grasp part of the NVIDIA market share in T4 2024, the sales of its autonomous GPUs for office computers fell to a historic hollow for the whole year.
A modest quarter
The industry has sent 8.4 million discreet graphic advice for office PCs in the fourth quarter of 2024, compared to 8.1 million in the previous quarter, but down 9.5 million units, according to JPR. NVIDIA would have reassured part of its production capacity of GPUs from customers to data center GPUs, which is why its shipments contracted both sequentially and from one year to the other at around 6.89 million units in the fourth quarter. On the other hand, AMD has managed to increase sales of its Raft Graphics cards for office computers at 1.43 million units, its strongest result of 2024. However, it was still less than 1.81 million sent to the fourth quarter of 2023.
Due to the constrained production capacity, Nvidia lost around 8% of the discreet office GPU market in the last quarter of 2024, while AMD earned around 7% and Intel earned around 1.2%, according to Jon Peddie Research. Nvidia has always dominated the market with a share of 82%, but AMD ordered 17% of shipments, which was a positive result for the company.
While the request for graphics cards exceeded the supply in the fourth quarter, and as AMD and NVIDIA delayed the rise in volume of their last products until 2025, the suppliers finished the quarter with a solid queue of pending controls before this period, according to Jon Peddie Research. However, with new prices which should come into force in the second quarter, the usual seasonal decline in AIB office expeditions in the second quarter could be even more steep unless there is part of the backlog continues.
A happy new year (but not for AMD)
While the fourth quarter of 2024 was modest for AIB autonomous graphics for office computers due to NVIDIA power constraints and the reported power of the GeForce RTX 50 series and Radeon RX 9000 to 2025, all year 2024 was pretty good for discreet office GPU.
The industry sent 34.7 million AIB graphics for office computers in 2024, against around 31 million in 2023, but against almost 38 million in 2022, according to JPR. However, keep in mind that there was no major product launch last year, and only NVIDIA updated its range with several Super models GeForce RTX 40.
Throughout the year, NVIDIA sent discreet 30.2 million GPUs for office computers, which was a significant increase compared to 2023 and aligned with its results in 2022, based on Jon Peddie Research data. On the other hand, AMD sent 4.42 million autonomous graphic processors for office PCs, marking the worst results of the company.
Given the continuous constraints of NVIDIA GeForce RTX 50 shipments in the first quarter of 2023, it remains to be seen if AMD manages to maintain its market share and increase its expeditions compared to the fourth quarter of 2024.
