Technological journalist

A major journalism organization urged Apple to delete its new generative AI functionality after having created a deceptive title on a very publicized murder in the United States.
The BBC filed a complaint To the American technology giant after Apple Intelligence, which uses artificial intelligence (AI) to summarize and group notifications together, has falsely created a title on the suspect of the murder Luigi Mangione.
The summary propelled by AI made the impression that BBC News had published an article claiming that Mangione, the man accused of the murder of health insurance CEO, Brian Thompson in New York, had shot. He doesn’t have it.
Now journalists from the Borders have called Apple to remove technology. Apple made no comments.

Apple Intelligence was launched in the United Kingdom last week.
Journalists without borders, also known as RSF, said that it was “very concerned about the risks posed to the media” by AI tools.
The group said The BBC incident proves that “generative AI services are still too immature to produce reliable information for the public”.
Vincent Berthier, the head of the RSF technology and journalism office, added: “AIS are probability machines, and the facts cannot be decided by a dice roll.
“RSF calls for Apple to act responsible for removing this functionality. Automated production of false information allocated to a media is a hard blow for the credibility of the exit and a danger for public law to reliable information on current affairs . “
Apple has not made any comments since the story broke out last week.
When the group notification involving BBC News emerged, a spokesman for the BBC said that the company had contacted Apple “to raise this concern and solve the problem.”
The notification which made a false assertion on Mangione was otherwise exact in its summaries on the overthrow of the Bashar al-Assad regime in Syria and an update on the South Korean president Yoon Suk Yeol.
The BBC has not yet confirmed if Apple has responded to its complaint.
Mangione has now been accused of first degree murder in the murder of Mr. Thompson.

The BBC does not seem to be the only news editor who made the headlines distorted by Apple’s new AI technology.
On November 21, three articles from the New York Times were grouped into a notification – with a party reading “Netanyahu arrested”, referring to the Israeli Prime Minister.
He inaccurately summed up a report on the International Criminal Tribunal issued an arrest warrant against Netanyahu, rather than any report on the fact that he was arrested.
The error was highlighted on Bluesky By journalist Ken Schwencke with the propublica American investigation journalism website.
Schwencke told BBC News that he had taken the screenshot and confirmed that it was real. The New York Times refused to comment.
What is the summary of Apple Intelligence’s notification?
As part of its deployment of Apple Intelligence, Apple allows users to group notifications.
Apple said customers might like this to help reduce interruptions caused by current notifications.
It is only available on certain iPhones – those that use the IOS 18.1 system version or later on recent devices (all iPhone 16 phones, 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max). It is also available on certain iPads and Macs.
Grouped notifications are marked with a specific icon and users can point out all the concerns they have on a notification summary. Apple did not describe the number of reports he received.
Apple Intelligence does not only summarize the articles of the publishers, and it was reported that the summaries of emails and SMS Sometimes did not completely hit the brand.
