The Central Board of Secondary Education has taken a progressive step by introducing skill subjects into the school curriculum. This integration of 21st-century skills into the educational system allows students of class 11 to choose from a wide range of about 43 elective subjects in addition to their main subjects.
The electives can be chosen per the study scheme offered by the respective schools. This flexibility in elective selection ensures that each student’s academic journey is tailored to their interests and aspirations.
These skill subjects are developed to improve employability and boost entrepreneurship skills for the students. A few newly introduced elective subjects are Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Physical Activity Trainer, Land Transportation Associate, Electronics & Hardware and Design Thinking & Innovation.
The curriculum and the study material for the skill subjects are currently available on the CBSE academic website under the tab’ Skill Education’. Students can visit the official website of the CBSE to cross-check the list of electives introduced by the board.
