Introduction:
From preservation to sustainability. In the future, the design will considerably benefit from hybridities that emerge from the distrusts of materiality, design methodologies and manufacturing techniques. This workshop will cover crucial design concepts that directly deal with building materials and construction, specifically focusing on the evolution and design of architectural components such as columns, facade panels and roof systems. We will find answers that influence the decision -making decision -making in the behavior of natural materials, the plasticity of the synthetic material, the subtleties of the tangle of components and the resolution of the robotic manufacturing process.
The scope of the workshop:
This workshop will focus on the design of architectural components such as facade panels, columns and structural components. Participants must have advanced knowledge of rhinos and basic knowledge of the grasshopper. The workshop will present the Kuka plugin Pc Grasshopper To simulate and use the Kuka robotic arms directly. This workshop will cover three main subjects in the digital design and the manufacture of robotics:
- Natural material hybrids: We will discuss the ecology and behavior of natural materials, their structural properties and their influence on robotics and digital manufacturing.
- Multi-Materality: We will discuss the transition phase which forces us to naturally hybridize with synthetic materials in an architecture based on components and its aesthetic implications on design and functionality.
- 3D resolution per manufacturing: We will explore the role of the tool path as design methodology, improving the autonomy of digital manufacturing tools, in particular robotics.

Program:
Day 1:
- Introduction / Conference
- Brainstorming generation ideas as a group
- Design tutorial rhino
- Grasshopper of the design tutorial
- Mission
- Q&R
Day 2:
- Participants’ project reviews
- Robotics Introduction
- Introduction to digital manufacture
- Kuka PRC Tutorial 3D Printing – Robotic simulation
- Kuka PRC Milling Tutorial – Robotics Simulation
- Discussion
- Q&R

Software:
Workshop notes:
- Be ready to work in groups of 2 to 4 participants.
- We will have at least 30 minutes discussion for all participants before the start of the tutorial to think and start training groups.
- We will have 30 minutes At the end of day 1 for memories and questions of assignment.
- At the end of Day 2there will be 30 minutes For Q&R and closing of the workshop remarks.

Instructor:
Fadhil Fadhil
Fadhil Fadhil is a calculation designer specializing in digital manufacturing and robotics. He is the director of the robotics manufacturing laboratory and an auxiliary teacher at New York Technology InstituteSchool of architecture and design. He taught robotics and manufacturing seminars at Ms. Architectural computational technology control program and IT design and visualization courses of the undergraduate program. In addition, he works and collaborates independently with designers and artists to design and manufacture several projects, including installations, furniture and architectural components.
Fadhil holds a master’s degree in Bartlett school of architecture,, London University Collegeand a baccalaureate in architecture of Texas Tech University. Before his university career, Fadhil worked as an architecture designer in Foster and partners In New York, where he played an important role in the design and management of several projects ranging from cities, skyscrapers and permanent furniture structures. Fadhil’s work has been published in conferences such as E / S DC and responsive and exposed during events, including the Biennial,, Milan Design WeekAnd Marmomac.
