Google Photos gets an AI upgrade. Wednesday, the technology giant announced that a handful of mounting features previously improved Limited to pixel devices And paid subscribers – including its magic editor powered by AI – will now go for free to all Google Photos users. This expansion also includes Google’s magic eraser, which deletes unwanted articles from photos; Photo aburur, which uses automatic learning to sharpen blur photos; Portrait Light, which allows you to change the light source in the photos afterwards, and others.
The editing tools were historically an argument for the sale for high -end google devices, pixel phones, as well as a draw Google cloud storage subscription product, Google One. But with the growing number of publishing tools powered by AI flooding the market, Google has decided to make its set of IA photo retouching features for free.

However, there are warnings to this expansion.
To start, the tools will not start to take place until May 15 and they will take weeks to get to all Google Photos users.
In addition, there are hardware device requirements to be able to use them. On Chromeos, for example, the device should be a Chromebook plus with Chromeos version 118+ or have at least 3 GB of RAM. On mobile, the device must run Android 8.0 or more or iOS 15 or more.
The company notes that Pixel tablets will also be supported.
Magic Editor is the most notable feature of the group. Presented last year With the launch of Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro, this editing tool uses a generative AI to make more complicated photo changes – such as filling gaps in a photo, repositioning the subject and other modifications in the foreground or in the background of a photo. With Magic Editor, you can change a gray sky to blue, remove people from the background of a photo, recent the photo subject while filling in gaps, remove other footprints and more.
Previously, these types of modifications would require Magic Eraser and other professional publishing tools, such as Photoshop, to obtain the same effect. And these modifications would be more manual, not automated via AI.

With expansion, Magic Editor will arrive at all Pixel devices, while iOS and Android users (whose phones meet the requirements) will obtain 10 backups from the magic publisher per month. To go beyond that, they will always have to buy a Google One Premium plan – which means 2 TB of storage and more.
Other tools will be available for all Google Photos users, no Google One subscription is required. The complete set of features that will become available includes Magic Eraser, Photo Unburur, Sky Suggestions, Color Pop, HDR effect for photos and videos, Flonge Portrait, Portrait Light (as well as ADD / Light Light Light Functions in the tool), cinematographic photos, styles in the collage editor and video effects.
Other features such as the best Ai -Powed socket – which merges similar photos to create a single better plan where everyone smiles – will continue to be available only for 8 and 8 pro pixels.
