Google has discreetly introduced a new IA research experience called Learn on, which sums up the content and offers navigation menus to explore the related sub-themes. This new way to explore the content uses drilling navigation menus called interactive lists and if the user scrolls far enough, they will eventually find links to the content created by humans.
This new way of searching encourages exploration with an interface which continuously presents summaries and additional links with content created by man. The experience looks like a children’s book “Choose your story”, where the travel story based on the reader’s decisions.
Google’s learning initiative
Learning on AI research is offered as part of Google Labs. This is also part of Google’s learning initiative. The Learning Initiative page offers links to Google Labs related to learning.
The learning initiative contains links to various projects:
- Discover
- Shiffbot
- Light up

Interactive list user interface
Learn Interactive list The exploration menus are illustrated with images, which is attractive because humans are visually oriented. This makes it faster to understand the written content because the image strengthens the text.
The images of the interactive menu seem to be under license from stock suppliers stock like Shutterstock, Adobe and Alamy. None of the images seem to come from creative websites.

The questions trigger a summary and a drilling navigation menu called an interactive list. These research results lead to related subjects and gradually granular summaries, to more interactive lists.
Under the interactive lists is a section entitled “Explore the related content” which offers links to real content created by humans such as YouTube videos and website content.
Under the links to the content of the creator is a group of buttons labeled with options to simplify, go further or get images. Under these three choices are vocal balloons with additional search requests on related subjects.
