Gov. Jeff Landry announced that Meta, the operator of Facebook and Instagram, will invest $10 billion to build an artificial intelligence-optimized data center in Richland Parish, near Rayville. Landry says the project is expected to generate at least 500 direct jobs and more than a thousand indirect jobs, as well as thousands of construction jobs.
“This groundbreaking investment will transform Louisiana’s economy and position our state as a leader in the world of technology and innovation,” Landry said.
Landry says this investment is a game-changer for Louisiana.
“It’s not just another facility. This is a $10 billion investment in Louisiana’s future. This is not just a project, but truly a generational transformation of the Louisiana landscape,” Landry emphasized.
Landry says this facility is the largest of more than 20 metadata centers.
“This will be Meta’s largest investment to date in its AI Center portfolio, marking a major milestone for both the company and our state,” Landry explained.
Construction begins immediately and Entergy will add clean, energy-efficient power plants to its system to meet growing energy demand.
