Tuesday, December 12, Avag, Stichting Hortivation, TNO and Greentech again organize the Future Trends & Innovations event. The afternoon will focus on “Horticulture AI – The change of game for the sector?” TNO’s chief scientist Peter Werkhoven will be invited to the World Horti Center this afternoon to provide a context to this question. The theme will then be explored deeper in parallel sessions. Interested parties can register for free for the event.
Artificial intelligence models have existed for some time. The advent of various AI -centered models which can automatically deal with texts and answer questions based on knowledge has put technology under the spotlight this year. However, the possibilities of artificial intelligence go much further. AI tools can also have unprecedented importance for businesses. One of the sectors where technology should have a big future is horticulture. The growing crops in conditioned conditions already generate a large flow of data. The deployment of sensors, as at the factory level, can only increase this amount of data. When the human mind fails to analyze and combine all this data, AI intervenes effortlessly.
Successful deployment of an AI in large horticultural companies
Predict the behavior of the harvest and thus the optimization of the culture strategy therefore becomes more possible. Large horticultural companies already use these possibilities and successfully. The end of this development will be the subject of discussion on Tuesday, December 12 during trends and future innovations.
Main speaker: Peter Werkhoven
The annual event invited Peter Werkhoven as an honor speaker. He is responsible for TNO as chief scientist and is also a teacher of computer science at the University of Utrecht. With his experience in the application of artificial intelligence in many sectors, he can make a good prediction of what awaits horticulture.
Six parallel sessions
After his speech, participants in the event will have the opportunity to speak more of these future prospects. This occurs during the six parallel sessions covering a variety of sub-themes, such as control of autonomous culture focused on cucumber or increasing access to fresh food. Each participant can attend two sessions lasting a little less than half an hour.
Program
The Future Trends & Innovations event will take place at the Naaldwijk World Horti Center. The program starts at 2:30 p.m. with an appointment. From 3 p.m. to 4:10 p.m., Peter Werkhoven will go on stage for his presentation. After the second series of parallel sessions, around 5.30 p.m., there will be a two -hour opportunity to catch up with other participants during drinks with the following buffet.
Registration is available at www.aanmelder.nl/futtrend2023. Participation in the afternoon is free. Organization is a co -production of Avag, from hortivation in sticica, TNO and Greentech.
