Founder of Amazon.com Inc. Jeff Bezos has joined Samsung in a $700 million bet on Tenstorrent, valuing the AI chip startup with ambitions to take on Nvidia Corp. at approximately $2.6 billion.
Tenstorrent, which hopes to create a chip to try to break Nvidia’s stranglehold on the AI sector, has raised capital in a funding round led by South Korean firm AFW Partners and Samsung Securities, founder and pioneer semiconductors. Jim Keller said in an interview. Bezos Expeditions joined LG Electronics Inc. and Fidelity in this financing, betting on Keller’s pedigree and the burgeoning opportunity in artificial intelligence technology.
