- NVIDIA organized its first quantum computer day at the GTC 2025.
- During the event, the main players in quantum space made great announcements on recent developments.
- The event occurred months after Jensen Huang said it would take decades before quantum computers is useful.
NVIDIA organized its very first quantum computer day on Thursday at the GTC 2025, expanding the attention of the technological conference beyond accelerated IT and artificial intelligence and perfection Innovations in materials science, medicine and beyond.
The inaugural quantum day brought with it a series of advertisements of quantum IT companies, including D-Wave, Fleqtion, Seeqc, etc. Here are some of the biggest announcements and what they mean for industry.
Nvidia announces plans to build a quantum research laboratory in Boston
During the round table, the CEO of Nvidia, Jensen Huang, announced the plan of his business to build a quantum research laboratory in Boston.
“It will probably be the world of the most advanced hybrid research laboratory,” said Huang said. “And it will be located in Boston so that we can associate ourselves with Harvard and MIT.”
Huang took care to note that the announcement was scheduled before his comments in January, in which he suggested that we are 20 years from quantum computer “very useful”, which sent quantum stocks falling Earlier this year.
D-Wave quantum blockchain architecture
D-Wave, based in Palo Alto, announced the publication of its latest article, which introduced a new architecture of quantum blockchain. The paper describes how the company has built and tested an algorithm “proof of quantum” which uses quantum calculation to generate and validate blockchain’s atmosphere.
Researchers in the field agree that quantum IT could Finish encryption as we know itresulting in massive security risks for all private data stored on the Internet. D-Wave’s research, according to the company, could help fuel the next generation of blockchain for cryptocurrencies, supply chain management, health care, identity verification and decentralized finances.
“We have made connotations that your GPUs cannot make, and now we are able to build a more energy efficient blockchain than what works on GPUs,” Alan Baratz, CEO of D-Wave, with Business Insider told.
Learning contextual machine from flower and nvidia
Fleqtion, a quantum business technology company, has unveiled its new automatic learning approach, called automatic learning context, during the quantum day. The CML approach was developed in partnership with NVIDIA.
The CML approach operates quantum IT to improve artificial intelligence. It allows automatic learning models to process more information on longer periods and from several sources simultaneously, to improve the capacity of AI to recognize models in sensor data, to predict trends and to make decisions in real time with greater precision.
Classic-Quantum interface of Seeqc and Nvidia
The manufacturer of quantum equipment Seeqc, in partnership with NVIDIA, announced the first quantum interface demo entirely digital in the world – an important step to provide the first chip interface to chip which will connect quantum processors with conventional GPUs.
“What we have done is that we have taken the basic features of a quantum computer, put it on a chip, then made this chip work at the same qubit temperature so that we can really assemble them and create connectivity in this way,” said the CEO of Seeqc, John Levy, to Business Insider.
The prototype chip relies on the forces of conventional computers to manage the correction of errors in real time while taking advantage of the quantum computer forces to process more data more quickly than conventional computers alone cannot.
“The key point of view is that we do so in a very economical manner, because if you use ordinary chips, the heat of these tokens would destabilize the cubits, so they would not work,” said Levy. “Our chips operate nine orders of magnitude, so it is a power of billions of times lower than conventional fleas.”
What it means for industry
In addition to the major recent announcements involving quantum computer research from Microsoft,, Amazon web servicesAnd Google, the news from GTC underlines how much the industry is growing.
When quantum computer science has been considered for years a theoretical area with little use beyond research, the evolution industry has now expanded beyond the prouvance of its academic potential to present its commercial uses.
Oskar Painter, director of Quantum Hardware at AWS, previously told Business Insider: “We are really at a very exciting moment in quantum calculation, and you hear a lot because it is a real tilting point.”
