Some of us prefer AI to human colleagues because we fear being judged or sharing credit, according to Microsoft, with a report saying that workers will have to become the “boss” of AI agents And accept technology as “digital colleagues” rather than simple tools.
Microsoft has used a survey of 31,000 people worldwide, Microsoft 365 Liendin telemetry and hiring trends to predict the future of work for its 2025 Work trend indexAn annual report examining how technology will have an impact on the operation of organizations.
Research revealed that 80% of the global enrollment interviewed said they had no time or energy to do their job, 82% of leaders saying that they intended to use “digital work” to respond to these concerns and extend their workforce over the next year.
And that means that we will work with more AI agents, suggests the report.
Already, 46% of the managers interviewed by Microsoft said that their companies use agents to fully automate workflows or business processes, especially in customer service, marketing and product development – although he added that organizations must consider a new key measure: the human -agent ratio.
“The good report will be critical – and specific to the task,” wrote Jared Spartaro, AI at work for Microsoft blog. “Whether it is a customer conversation, a strategic decision or a product launch, knowing how to provide the right mixture of humans and agents will define how the work is done – and how success is measured.”
Be the boss (from AI)
At the same time, Microsoft predicted that each staff member will become the boss – but it is not a sudden passage to an organizational table or flat equality for all employees.
Instead, workers will have to learn to manage AI agents, including building them as well as delegating it tasks and the management of results. Research has shown that four out of ten leaders believe that their staff will be training and management agents within four years.
“From the conference room to the front line, each worker will have to think like the CEO of a startup propelled by agents,” wrote Spartaro, although he has recognized that each industry and that the role will evolve differently as it uses AI.
AIDS AI do not judge
Research also suggests that some of us could appreciate our IA colleagues – for their constant availability as well as their inability to judge us for our faults.
Microsoft asked why human workers turned to AI agents to get aid, 42% cited still in progress Availability and 30% indicated speed and quality, but some offered less positive responses.
According to the report, 17% said they used AI on “fear of human judgment” and noted that AI felt “more private”, while 16% said they had done so to avoid the friction to work with colleagues who are frustrated or impatient, while 15% said they were tired of explaining to colleagues.
And a last 8% said they had asked for AI help rather than a colleague to avoid sharing credit for work. Microsoft noted that these reasons were the least frequent answers: “This suggests
People prefer to use AI not to replace the value of humans Provide, but to improve it, “said the report.
That said, Microsoft said that we should get used to AI agents as colleagues rather than software – and some already do it, with 52% of respondents saying that they consider AI as a tool -based tools, while 46% see it as a thought partner to help think. “Digital colleagues are not only tools, they are teammates, capable of initiating action, managing projects and adapting in real time,” added the report.
