A new AI innovation center for Tunisia developers has been launched today in Novation City, a technological park designed to cultivate a dynamic innovation ecosystem in mechatronics – an industry encompassing industry, mechanics and mechanics Electronics – and to promote synergy between education, research and industry in the North African country.
Integrated collaboration with the NVIDIA Deep Learning Institute (DLI), the HUB offers training, technologies and commercial networks necessary to help stimulate the adoption of AI through the continent.
The launch of the hub is part of NVIDIA’s efforts to train 100,000 developers across Africa via the DLI over the next three years – a goal that is around a quarter finished today.
Located in Sousse – a coastal city in the center of Tunisia which is surrounded by universities, startups and other organizations with a strong accent on the STEM and the AI - the center includes free access to the Nvidia Dli courses on subjects such as AI Generative,, Accelerated IT And data science.
Thanks to its AI, industry 4.0 and intelligent transportation centers, Novation City provides advanced resources and access to NVIDIA DGX infrastructure For startups and AI researchers. Novation City also organizes organized activities to stimulate the growth of ecosystems, such as hackathons and specialized training sessions. Everything is brought together in this new environment conducive to learning, experimentation and deployment of AI.
“Novation City has launched several AI key initiatives to strengthen the ecosystem, the support of Nvidia being decisive in the empowerment of AI startups and the progression of AI skills,” said Anas Rochdi, Director of innovation at Novation City. “This year, we have deployed the first Nvidia DGX system in Tunisia and launched major academic initiatives in collaboration with the Nvidia Deep Learning Institute, aimed at training more than 1,000 developers in one year.”
Novation City also manages several start -up accelerator programs, and more than 10 participating companies are members of Inception de NvidiaA free program that feeds advanced startups.
Tunisia stimulates innovation in STEM and IA education
Tunisia’s education system has traditionally put an emphasis on STEM, in particular mathematics and sciences, according to Wei Xiao, who heads the team of relations with Nvidia developers for startups, businesses and universities in the Middle East and Africa.
“Tunisia has a rich history of valuation of knowledge and scholarships, dating from the old Carthage and the Islamic Golden Age,” said Xiao. “And the country’s study program is rigorous, creating a solid base for advanced studies in STEM fields.”
This made the country – well located to serve as a bridge between Europe, Africa and the Middle East (EMEA) – a flourishing ecosystem for innovation, entrepreneurship and research. Novation City and Nvidia aim to further strengthen the ecosystem through the new IA innovation center.
Planned by the collaboration between the university world, industry and the government, the initiative is funded by French and German development agencies, the Tunisian government, the World Bank and the European Union, as well as several companies.
And the hub arrives at a time when Tunisia has adopted a national strategy for AI and digitization – which includes the promotion of education and research on AI – in the context of a broader vision for Position the nation as a digital leader in Africa. For example, the University of Tunis launched this month the first public institute of the country specializing in AI.
Partners promote sovereign AI in Tunisia and beyond
A key element of Ai sovereign is the nation’s ability to produce artificial intelligence using its own workforce – as well as its own infrastructure, data and activity networks. The DLI free training offered through the Tunisia IA innovation center is about to allow this, helping to use the next generation of African IA experts.
In addition, Novation City already offers a wide range of facilities designed to support technological and scientific progress.
In February, Novation City deployed an NVIDIA DGX system, among the first in Africa, which allowed around 30 startups through the continent in AI climateTransport, manufacturing, AGTECH and other industries to develop accelerated IT solutions.
In addition, the University Esprit – a university specialized in Tunisia with more than 10,000 engineering students – has new NVIDIA DLI ambassadors which provide training to students and contribute to the broader technological ecosystem across the country. This makes the University of Esprit one of the most active DLI organizations in the EMEA.
Since 2018, Spirit has drawn from DLI to advance education at AI. The university has also acquired an NVIDIA DGX system to support research and product development.
NVIDIA has planned ia education initiatives similar to Kenya and Nigeria to improve and improve African technological ecosystems.
