The report suggests that this visit indicates that the final quality test procedures for the supply of Samsung on its fifth generation HBM3E in Nvidia have officially started.
As the report indicates, Samsung Electronics mentioned during his profits last month that he intends to start providing HBM3E (8 layers) products to “key customers” by the end of the first quarter in 2025.
Samsung plans to first deliver 8 -layer HBM3E chips, followed by HBM3E 12 -layers in the first half of this year, as the report indicates.
While the company initially considered HBM4 as the key battlefield of domination in the HBM sector, customer demand this year quickly moved to 12 -layer HBM3E products. Consequently, as the report points out, Samsung now favors qualification tests for its 8 -layer HBM3E and 12 layers.
The report notes that Samsung is fully determined to conclude the supply agreement with NVIDIA, going so far as to reallocate research and development staff originally at HBM4 of sixth generation to support the HBM3E project.
As indicated in the report, Cheonan Campus of Samsung Electronics is the main center of the company for advanced packaging production. To secure orders, Samsung must obtain approval not only for HBM itself but also for the packaging process, as highlighted in the report.
