San Francisco, February 1 – Openai chief Sam Altman said that his large -scale artificial intelligence company was “on the wrong side of history” when it comes to opening up to operation of its technology.
Altman’s comments occurred during an Ask Anything session on Reddit where he asked questions, especially if he would plan to publish OPENAI research.
Altman replied that he was in favor of the idea and that this is a subject of discussion within Openai, based in San Francisco.
“I personally think that we have been on the wrong side of the history of history here and that we must find a different open source strategy,” said Altman.
“Everyone in Openai does not share this point of view, and it is not our current priority either.”
The newcomer to Chinese AI Deepseek made the headlines for the low cost and high performance of his cat R1, but also his claim to be a public “open source” project unlike the closed alternatives of Openai and Google.
The open source refers to the practice of programmers revealing the source code of their software, rather than the simple “compiled” program ready to operate on a computer.
This faced with the continuation of income from private companies and the protection of intellectual property.
The developer of IA Meta, Deepseek and France Mistral claims to stand out by allowing developers free access to the internal functions of their tools.
A member of the Reddit group asked Altman if Deepseek had changed his plans for future Openai models.
“It’s a very good model,” said Altman about Deepseek.
“We will produce better models, but we will maintain less lead than we have done in previous years.” – AFP
