- The OpenAi Chatgpt showed erratic behavior for several hours, producing absurd responses to user requests on February 20.
- Chatgpt responses included combinations of multiple languages, gibberish and unimportant information for requests.
On February 20, 2024, several chatgpt users reported strange responses from the popular Openai chatbot, including data repetition, several languages in responses and data not relevant to user requests. Later, Openai published recognition of the problem on her status page and said she was investigating the incident.
Very popular chatbot users have experienced a variety of dysfunctions. Some chatbot responses have even used Latin and old Spanish words, which are both considered as dead languages. Although Chatgpt’s responses normally imitate human discourse, a problem with its algorithms which control the development and creativity of responses is largely suspected of being the problem.

Openai would have resolved the problem, the performance returning to normal. The AI startup said that the bug has occurred in language processing operations where numbers are mapped on LLM tokens during the optimization of the user experience. Such problems should occur occasionally because the AI is looking for models in data to create assumptions for the expected responses for a specific input.
This is not the first incident where Chatgpt misunderstood. Users have complained of unnecessarily sassy or lazy chatbot responses. In addition, the Italian government also said that Chatgpt Stole Users’ confidentiality regulations. While Openai has promised a correction of these concerns, the unpredictability in the dynamics of important language models continued to raise concerns concerning the consistency and reliability of chatgpt operations.
