This decision could put Openai in competition with Meta, Apple and other AI players based on equipment.
While companies often record various brands for ideas that never materialize, Openai’s application arrived at a time when its CEO Sam Altman spoke of the company’s material plans.
On Monday, he said in an interview with Nikkei Asia that Optai wanted to develop AI consumption technologies “thanks to partnerships with many companies”. However, he warned that even the creation of a prototype could take “several years”, Business Insider reports .
The OPENAI brand application, deposited on January 31, lists the “humanoid robots which are programmable by a user” and “humanoid robots with communication and learning functions”.
This comes then that Optai rebuilt her team of robotics, which she previously closed in 2020. In November, Openai hired Caitlin Kalinowski, former Meta equipment manager, to direct robotics and material efforts for the consumption of ‘business. Kalinowski, who led Orion’s development, the Meta Arg Glasses Prototypes, had previously declared that she would focus on “contribution in the physical world” thanks to partnerships with robotics and equipment.
Altman has not provided details on how OpenAI plans to integrate its AI models into its own equipment, but the company’s declaration suggests that it lays the legal bases for future developments.
