Codebeamer Copilot beta expected to launch in early 2025
BOSTON, December 3, 2024 /PRNewswire/ — CTP (NASDAQ: PTC) today announced its partnership with Microsoft and Volkswagen Group to develop a generative artificial intelligence (AI) co-pilot based on the PTC Codebeamer® application lifecycle management (ALM) solution. Codebeamer Copilot will support software development in physical products by enabling software engineers to more effectively create and manage product requirements, as well as test, validate and release them.
The development of Codebeamer Copilot is based on Adoption of Codebeamer by the Volkswagen Group to support software development across its vehicle brands and projects. PTC and Volkswagen Group have partnered with Microsoft to help amplify the value of Codebeamer by integrating generative AI with Microsoft Azure AI capabilities.
“By integrating Microsoft Azure AI into Codebeamer software, it can help us create new specifications and test cases,” said Robert KattnerHead of IT Engineering, Volkswagen Groupin a video describing the collaboration. “It can also improve the quality of our requirements by removing duplicates and checking against existing quality standards. And furthermore, it can help our teams import requirements baselines from older IT systems. This will boost our productivity gains by reducing the time to import, review and write requirements. In a word, our engineers will do their work more efficiently.
“We apply generative AI to help our customers solve problems and capitalize on market opportunities, such as the efficient development of software-defined vehicles,” said Kevin WrennDirector of Products, PTC. “Our collaboration with Volkswagen Group and Microsoft on Codebeamer Copilot gives us the best of both worlds: a leading Volkswagen Group manufacturer demonstrating how these solutions apply in a real-world context, and a Microsoft partner pushing the boundaries. generative AI and bringing cutting-edge technology to market.
“The manufacturing sector offers tremendous opportunities for generative AI use cases, and we are excited to support this collaboration with PTC and Volkswagen Group, both industry leaders,” said Dayan Rodriguez, Vice President Corporate President, Manufacturing and Mobility at Microsoft. “Codebeamer Copilot is a significant example of how generative AI can make a complex and long-standing process like product development simpler and more efficient.”
