Mangaluru: CBSE and ICSE schools in the district added artificial intelligence (AI) and robotics as new subjects in the program. The majority of schools have introduced these subjects this academic year.
The last to add these courses to their school program is Ambika Vidyalaya,, Puttur. The school has developed its own program with the help of a private engineering college in Mangaluru. Another school, Central School of Lourdeswhich has a program similar to computer science with robotics and AI. Central school of Mount Carmel,, Maryhillhas also introduced AI for classes I to IX, this academic year. The other schools said they were planning to introduce it soon.
Subrahmanya Nattoja, founder of Ambika Vidyalaya (CBSE), Puttur, told you that they had launched AI and robotics last week from classes V to X. Each subject will have three classes per week. These subjects are taught by two teachers, who are graduates in engineering. In addition, the program is organized using the Sahyadri College of Engineering and Management, to give children the best opinion.
“These subjects were introduced to give our young generation an overview of AI and robotics. Efforts are also made thanks to the introduction of these subjects to convince children to stay in India and help our country to develop in these areas rather than moving once they have graduated, ”said Nattoja. The school has also installed interactive intelligent keyboards to improve learning.
The central school of Mount Carmel introduced AI this academic year, while robotics was part of the ATAL DIY laboratory, installed five years ago. SR Melissa, director of the school, said: “AI was presented for classes I to IX students this academic year. There will be two classes per week led by teachers, specially trained in the material. Students will have to take exams on these subjects. We plan to introduce the same material to the next academic year of class X, “she said.
The AI was presented at the ICSE school in St Theresa, Bendoor, for classes VIII to X this year. The school proceeds to two classes per week. Father Robert d’ouza, director of the Central School of Lourdes, Bejali said: “AI is part of the program, while robotics is optional for students.”
