At least since Isaac Asimov posed the Three law of roboticsMany have wondered if robots would help or harm humanity. Or maybe doing a bit of both. Humanity still has time to shape the answer to this question, and we are happy to announce three speakers who have distinctive perspectives and based on how to secure an improved world (not worse) by robots.
These speakers Join our agenda For Techcrunch Sessions: Robotics, our first day event dedicated to the discussion of the main subjects with which the robotics industry is confronted. General admission tickets are currently available for purchase Although the seats are very limited.
The event takes place on July 17 in Boston at Mit’s Superb Kresge auditorium. It will be a good time and we hope to see you there.
David Barrett Is professor of mechanical engineering at Olin College, where new approaches helped to train future robotics engineers and recommend the development of “eusocialRobotics – Robotic sensitivity pushed to act for the common good. Professor Barrett has more than 25 years of experience in robotics, including the vice-president of engineering in iRobot, director of the Walt Disney Imagineering Corporation, research engineer at the MIT artificial intelligence laboratory and technical director of Draper Laboratory. He has a doctorate in Oceanic MIT engineering.
David Edelman Direct it Project on technology, economics and national security (Tens) at MIT, which is a joint position between MIT CSAIL and the Center for International MIT Studies. Edelman recently left the government, where it has served in the past seven years in various roles, including a special assistant by President Barack Obama on issues of the digital economy and national security, including the impact of robotics on the economy and cyber-warwarfare. He has a doctorate in international relations at the University of Oxford.
Brian Pierce is the director of the DARPA Information Innovation Office (I2O) and has 30 years of experience in the development of advanced technologies in the aerospace / defense industry. Before joining Darpa, he was technical director in the company’s space and airborne systems. Dr. Pierce obtained a doctorate in chemistry at the University of California in Riverside. He has more than 20 American patents.
