The Longgang district authorities in Shenzhen, Guangdong Province, used the latest Deepseek model to improve the governance of its 4 million residents living in a region larger than Singapore. It is the first Chinese district government to largely adopt the low-cost reasoning model at the start-up.
The authorities have “boldly” fed government data into the model, said the local manager in charge of deployment.

An AI assistant for word processing has contributed to saving time in writing and rereading documents, according to a report on the website of the Longgang government. In the past, it was generally necessary a government official of four to five minutes to reread 1,000 Chinese characters, but the Deepseek model could achieve it “in seconds”, according to the report.
