The first large-model company to go public.
Z.ai, formerly Zhipu AI, grew out of Tsinghua University and builds the GLM family of open-weights models. On 8 January 2026 it listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange, raising about $560 million, the first of China's 'AI tigers' to go public. The US added it to its Entity List in January 2025.
