We are excited to present a Research Topic that showcases exceptional research and content presented at the 20th annual conference of the Midsouth Computational Biology and Bioinformatics Society (MCBIOS), which was held at Emory University on March 22-24, 2024.
The conference featured a diverse program spanning three days with more than 80 world-class researchers presented in 24 invited technical sessions and workshops. Additionally, there were Young Scientist Excellence Award (YSEA) sessions, poster sessions, and even a MCBIOS Hackathon. The MCBIOS conference brings together bioinformaticians, computational biologists, and biological data scientists across the United States to facilitate collaboration and to educate the next generation of scientists. As such, this Research Topic aims to collect state-of-the-art literature on the development, advances, and application of machine learning, artificial intelligence, and big data analytics in the fields of biology and medicine. We welcome various article types, including original research, reviews, short reviews, methods, and more.
The specific areas of interest include, but are not limited to, the following:
– Application of artificial intelligence in biomedical research;
– Application of machine learning in predictive public health;
– Deep learning applications in biological and medical research
– Computational approaches for drug discovery;
– Network biology and medicine;
– Computational methods for single cell multi-omics data;
– Statistical methods for genetics and \omics data;
– Big data approaches to drug safety and toxicity.
We invite researchers and experts in the field to submit their latest work to this Research Topic, building on the successful discussions and advances made at the MCBIOS conference.
