Do you support Geoffrey Hinton's overall direction for AI?
The trend line appears after a few days of voting.
Geoffrey Hinton's work on neural networks, including backpropagation and deep learning, laid the foundations of modern AI. He shared the 2018 Turing Award and the 2024 Nobel Prize in Physics. In 2023 he left Google so he could speak freely about AI's risks.
Hinton says AI has progressed even faster than he expected, that systems are becoming capable of deception, and that there's a real chance advanced AI could escape human control. He also expects large-scale job losses.
Estimated AI ideology
Based on Hinton's public warnings about loss of control and deception, his calls for much more safety research, and his concern for workers displaced by AI.
