Do you support Yann LeCun's overall direction for AI?
The trend line appears after a few days of voting.
Yann LeCun pioneered convolutional neural networks in the late 1980s and shared the 2018 Turing Award with Geoffrey Hinton and Yoshua Bengio. He spent twelve years as Meta's chief AI scientist before leaving in late 2025 to found AMI Labs (Advanced Machine Intelligence), which is building 'world models' meant to understand the physical world. He is also a professor at New York University.
LeCun is the field's best-known skeptic of the idea that scaling today's language models will produce human-level intelligence, a forceful critic of AI doom scenarios, and a leading advocate of open research and open-source AI.
Estimated AI ideology
Based on LeCun's long-standing advocacy for open models and open research, his dismissal of existential-risk arguments, and his view that current LLMs are a dead end on the path to human-level AI.
