Bobby Hodgkinson
Associated teaching teacher, SMEAD AEROSPACE
Friday April 4 | 12:45 p.m. – 2:15 p.m. | Aero N240
Abstract: While AI continues to evolve, the same goes for its role in education. This presentation will be based on the fundamental literacy of AI and will plunge more deeply on the way in which AI reshapes education at the national and global level. We will explore advanced implementations in kindergarten to the 12th year and higher education, providing information on how students today – our future aerospace engineers – are exposed to AI tools before arriving in Cu Boulder.
The session will highlight the educational progress focused on AI in peer establishments, examining the initiatives that integrate AI in courses, evaluation and educational research. We will discuss developments such as AI tutors, automated code opinions and Large -scale AI integration efforts in all disciplines. In addition, we will explore the ethical and pedagogical challenges of these tools, including concerns about biases, academic integrity and the evolutionary role of educators in an Ai-Augmented class.
This presentation will offer participants a prospective perspective on AI in education, which equips them with a deeper understanding of trends shaping the field and the potential implications for engineering education. Participants will go with a clearer idea of what to expect incoming students, how to align themselves with peer establishments and how to prepare for the next wave of educational transformation focused on AI.
Biography: Bobby is a professor of associated teaching in aerospace engineering in Cu Boulder, exploring education led by AI. He has developed classification tools assisted by AI, concept assessments and code interviews to improve student learning. It is actively involved in AI initiatives across campus and collaborates with colleagues from disciplines to explore the role of AI in education.
Beyond CU, he joined the wider community of AI and education to advance the literacy of AI. His talks explore the practical applications of generative AI in education, from fundamental tools to emerging trends that shape the future of learning.
