Microsoft AI, led since 2024 by DeepMind co-founder Mustafa Suleyman, builds Copilot and Microsoft's own MAI models. Microsoft is also OpenAI's largest backer and cloud partner. At Build 2026 it unveiled seven MAI models, including its first reasoning model, from a superintelligence team formed in late 2025.
