Marc Andreessen co-created Mosaic, the first widely used web browser, co-founded Netscape, and in 2009 co-founded the venture firm Andreessen Horowitz (a16z), one of the largest investors in AI startups. His 2023 essays 'Why AI Will Save the World' and 'The Techno-Optimist Manifesto' became rallying texts for the accelerationist movement.
Andreessen argues that AI will make almost everything better, that fears of AI risk amount to a moral panic, and that heavy regulation would entrench incumbents. a16z has backed political efforts against restrictive AI rules.
