About
Andrej Karpathy was a founding member of OpenAI, then led computer vision for Tesla Autopilot from 2017 to 2022. In 2024 he founded Eureka Labs, an AI-native education company, and his free lectures on building neural networks are among the most watched on the subject. In May 2026 he joined Anthropic's pre-training team, putting Eureka Labs on hold.
Karpathy coined the term 'vibe coding' and is one of the most trusted explainers of how large language models actually work. He has been measured about timelines, saying in 2025 that this is 'the decade of agents', not the year.
